In Azerbaijan, a child dies after circumcision

Doctors did not succeed in saving the life of a five-year-old boy, who was brought to the hospital of the Azerbaijani town of Masally after he had been subjected to the procedure of a circumcision done at home. The surgeon who done a surgery is suspected of killing the child by recklessness.

On May 3, a resident of the village of Musakyuche, born in 2012, died in the Masally Central District Hospital.

During the preliminary investigation, it has been found out that at home, the boy was subjected to the circumcision procedure done by the surgeon who retired in 2016. During the surgery, the child's condition deteriorated and he was brought to the hospital, where doctors did not succeed in saving his life.

On the fact of the incident, a criminal case has been instituted under Article 124.1 (killing by recklessness) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. A forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the exact causes of the death of the child, the agency "APA" reports with reference to the Prosecutor's Office.
