In Astrakhan, ten people come to solidarity action with political prisoners

On May 6, in Astrakhan, the action "Freedom for political prisoners" was held in the local Hyde Park on the fifth anniversary of the dispersal of the Moscow "March of Millions" in Bolotnaya   Square. Ten people took part the action organized by the "Parnas" Party.

More than 30 people were brought to criminal responsibility in connection with the events of May 6, 2012, during the "March of Millions" near Bolotnaya Square in Moscow, where clashes between activists and law enforcers took place. On the anniversary of those events, in the regions of Russia, including in the Southern Federal District (SFD), actions are held in support of political prisoners.

At the action held in Astrakhan, activists used a flag of the "Parnas" Party. In their hands, they were holding a poster reading: "Did you write a letter to a political prisoner?"

"The slogan: 'Freedom to political prisoners!' is becoming a trivial and unachievable," Mikhail Doliev, the chairman of the regional branch of the "Parnas" Party told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. And the activist continued: "We are all for the liberation, but let's also help political prisoners. Not everyone can help them with food or money, but everyone can write a letter and thus provide moral support. After all, in Astrakhan, there are two political prisoners, including Igor Stenin (the leader of the movement 'Russians of Astrakhan', sentenced to two years of imprisonment in a colony-settlement for reposting in a social network an article about the war in Ukraine, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') and Maxim Panfilov (a resident of Astrakhan, involved in the case of 'Bolotnaya Square', sent by the court for compulsory medical treatment in a psychiatric hospital, noted of the 'Caucasian Knot'). And perhaps there are also other political prisoners about whose situation we are not aware."
