In KChR, truck drivers refute Dmitry Medvedev's data on protesters

Only in Cherkessk, more than 500 entrepreneurs engaged in transportation activities have stopped their work. This was stated by truck drivers when they commented on the statement made by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on 480 protestors on strike against the "Platon" system throughout Russia. Truck drivers of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR)  have sent a report about disinformation to the address of Dmitry Medvedev.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 27, Russian truck drivers resumed mass protests. They demand to abolish the transport tax, reduce fuel excises and cancel the "Platon" system introduced to collect tolls from drivers of heavy trucks on federal roads.

On April 19, Dmitry Medvedev reported to deputies of the State Duma about 480 participants of the all-Russian protest action.

On April 26, KChR’s truckers adopted an open appeal to Dmitry Medvedev. In their appeal, they have stated that at present, only in Cherkessk, more than 500 entrepreneurs engaged in transportation activities have stopped their work. At that day, about 100 truck drivers from different regions and cities of the KChR gathered for the protest action and organized an auto rally, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to the truck drivers' appeal, it has been prepared in response to "disinformation about 480 truck drivers on strike across the country."

The participants of the protest action believe that "the government has chosen a tactic of silence and an information blockade" of their demands and that the authorities hope that the situation will be delayed and that the protestors will finally "give up to new extortions."
