Volgograd truck drivers declare receiving threats

This morning, in Volgograd, an armed man has threatened truck drivers on strike against the "Platon" system. This was reported by the Union of Cargo Carriers and Entrepreneurs of the Volgograd Region.

On March 27, Russian truck drivers resumed mass protests. They demand to abolish the transport tax, reduce fuel excises and cancel the "Platon" system introduced to collect tolls from drivers of heavy trucks on federal roads.

According to Volgograd truck drivers, the man who approached the protesters in a car began to threaten them with a pistol. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Alla Beg, President of the Union of Cargo Carriers and Entrepreneurs of the Volgograd Region "Union 34". "I called the police and asked for help," stated Alla Beg.

"Truck drivers have called me and told me that a man in a black car was threatening the protestors with a gun. When he left, he said: 'Well, wait, a brigade is coming and sort you out.' Earlier, that man had come to the place of the protest action at night and shouted that we were ruining his business. The man then tried to make a provocation, but left with nothing," said Alla Beg.

According to her, the police drove up to the parking lot of truck drivers. Alla Beg has also reported that the police have identified the identity of an armed man by state registration numbers of his car. At present, the police are looking for him.
