War veteran from Sochi cannot achieve opening case on theft of money from his bank card
For more than a year in Sochi, a 90-year veteran of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) cannot return the money, withdrawn by unidentified culprits from his bank account. The police refuse to open a theft case; and even the intervention of the prosecutor's office, which cancelled the refusal, did not help the veteran.
Gennady Kuk has turned for help to the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot".
In July 2015, he received a banking card "Momentum", and deposited about 56,000 roubles thereto. In August 2016, Mr Kuk turned to the bank to check the state of his account, where he was told that there was no money on his account.
He learned from the cash flow statement that on October 6, 2015, a sum of 6000 roubles was written off his card in Yekaterinburg; and on October 12, 2015, two operations were performed to the amounts of 10,000 roubles and 40,000 roubles.
On October 1, 2016, after detecting the theft of his money, Gennady Kuk turned to the police. On October 23, the police refused to open a criminal case. He appealed against the refusal at the Prosecutor's Office of the Adler District of Sochi.
"I saved up the stolen money for my funeral. I'm an old and a sick man... I have a lot of questions... to the bank, which promised, when signing an agreement with me, to keep the secrecy of my deposit and to protect it," said the veteran.
According to Alexander Boichenko, the head of the Sochi branch of the Moscow Bar Association, in this situation, the inaction of law enforcement bodies is seen.
