Children of Chechen woman killed in Germany return home

On March 9, five young children from a family of a resident of the Urus-Martan District, including four brothers and a sister, were returned from Germany to Chechnya. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the Urus-Martan District administration.

According to the official, in 2015, the family left for Germany and lived in the city of Senftenberg. In November 2016, the head of the family was arrested by the police on suspicion of killing his wife, and the children were brought to the guardianship authorities. "It took several months and the personal involvement of the leader of our republic to return the children home," reported the official of the Urus-Martan District administration.

He has specified that the children were brought to their grandmother, the mother of their father, appointed a guardian of her grandchildren.

Local residents treat the death of the children's mother and the arrest of their father as a tragedy; however, they are happy that the children are returned to Chechnya.

"The incident that happened in Germany with the family is a great tragedy for their relatives and for all of us. They left for Germany a year and a half ago. It looked like [the head of the family] wanted to heal his health there." And in the autumn, we learned the news that he brutally killed his wife, for jealousy or for some other reason and that the children were sent to an orphanage. It's good that they have been brought home now," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Isa, a local resident.
