Death toll under avalanche on Mount Cheget reaches seven

Today, the rescue operation on Mount Cheget in Kabardino-Balkaria has been completed after employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) found the body of the seventh tourist covered with an avalanche on the slope, which was banned for skiing.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 3 an avalanche hit the northern slope of Cheget, covering snowboarders. On the same day, rescuers brought down the bodies of four tourists and one injured person. In the evening on March 3, local tourists informed about the disappearance of their three friends, who could also get under the avalanche. By noon, two of them were found dead.

The rescuers completed their search operation after discovery the body of the seventh casualty, Kantemir Berov, the head of the press service of the Republic’s MfE Department, has stated, as quoted by the "Interfax".
