Shooting of film about Kalmyks killed in Chechnya postponed because of lack of funds

Process of shooting of the documentary film "When I get back-3" dedicated to natives of Kalmykia and Kalmyks from other regions, killed during the second Chechen military campaign and during the counterterrorist operations (CTOs) in Northern Caucasus, has been postponed because of funding problems. This was reported by filmmakers. According to relatives of Kalmykia natives who fought in Chechnya, the region weakly supports relatives of the victims and veterans.

According to various sources, during the first Chechen military campaign, 4000-14,000 Russian soldiers and officers, 3000-10,000 Chechen militants, and 50,000-100,000 civilians were killed. On September 30, 1999, after militants led by Basaev and Khattab invaded Dagestan in August 1999, the Russian troops entered Chechnya, and the second Chechen war began.

As of February 24, according to Valentina Ochir-Goryaeva, the chair of the Kalmyk regional branch of the "All-Russian public organization of families of killed defenders of the Fatherland", only 40,000 roubles have been raised.

Kishtyan Kinzeeva, a supervisor of the project, the chair of the Kalmyk regional branch of the "Union of Russian Women", has noted that the shooting will cost 300,000 roubles.

According to the filmmakers, starting from 2016, in Russia, the Ministry for Economy and Commerce stopped financing socially oriented NCOs.

Kishtyan Kinzeeva sees the main problem of the family members of killed soldiers and officers in the fact that "they have got no definite status."
