Prosecutor demands to extend arrest of figurants in "caliphate case"

The court session on the case of an attempt to create a caliphate in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has been postponed in order to allow the defence to prepare its objections to the petition of the public prosecutor, demanding to extend the defendants' custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case against 10 KBR residents is considered in Rostov-on-Don since August 2016.

On January 26, at the session of the North-Caucasian Military Court, the prosecutor Fatimat Molova filed a motion to extend the defendants' arrest, which expires on February 2, for other three months. According to her version, the health condition of the figurants does not prevent their detention; and there are no other grounds to mitigate their custody.

Let us remind you that at the session on January 14, Shogenov's mother said that her son had alibi; and on January 24 she and the defendant's aunt told that the search of Shogenov's home lasted for more than an hour without witnesses.
