Statement on Stomakhin's transfer to prison withdrawn from court

The consideration of the transfer to the prison regime of the publicist Boris Stomakhin, convicted for public justification of terror acts in Volgograd, was stopped today after the administration of the colony has withdrawn its presentation from the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 20, 2015, Stomakhin was sentenced to three years in prison for his publication about the terror acts in Volgograd committed on December 29-30, 2014, which, according to investigators, contained a public justification of terrorism. At the time of the trial, Stomakhin was serving another sentence in the Perm Region on similar charges, handed down on April 22, 2014. In December 2016, the administration of the local colony turned to the court with a presentation to toughen Stomakhin's custody regime and transfer him to prison.

Today, the Chusovoy City Court of the Perm Region has stopped the consideration of the above presentation, said the advocate Roman Kachanov.

Let us remind you that the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" opposed the Stomakhin's transfer to the prison regime, saying that the colony administration had based its demand on unreasonable penalties. Thus, in February 2016 Stomakhin was place into the dungeon for appearing outside his cell without a tag on his robe. In his turn, the prisoner asserted that on the day of violation he did not get out of the cell.
