Tens of thousands of Chechens pay tribute to Kunta-Khadji Kishiev
On January 3, Chechnya held the memorial day in connection with the 153rd anniversary of the deportation of Saint Kunta-Khadji Kishiev, revered in the Chechen Republic. In Chechnya, the mosques committed religious rituals of dhikr and mawlid. The events of the memorial day were attended by tens of thousands of people.
"On January 3, our republic marks one of the most tragic dates in its history the deportation of our Saint Kunta-Khadji Kishiev and his closest associates to the town of Ustyuzhna of the Novgorod Province. The events on the day in memory and honour of Kunta-Khadji were attended by tens of thousands of people who took part in commission of rituals of dhikr at mosques and made a pilgrimage to the ziyarat of his mother Kheda Kishieva in the village of Ertan of the Vedeno District. The Akhmad-Hadji Kadyrov Foundation named after the first Chechen President organized the distribution of food packages to low-income and needy families," said an official of the Chechen Muftiate.
The main events on the occasion of the day held in memory and honour Kunta-Khadji Kishiev took place at the "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque in Grozny.
