Policeman failed to justify putting journalist Magomedov on prophylactic registry

The former policeman, questioned prior to debates and making a decision on the claim of Magomed Magomedov against the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, whose report was one of the grounds for putting the journalist on the so-called "prophylactic registry", could not tell the court about any conducted operative activities. He called them "secret" and caused discontent of the judge.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Magomedov, the former spokesman of the Salafi mosque located in Hungarian Warriors Street in Makhachkala and a journalist of the "Novoye Delo" newspaper, had filed a lawsuit demanding to remove him from the MIA's prophylactic registry. On December 29, the court in Makhachkala ordered the MIA to remove Magomedov from the registry.

The witness Ruslan Achagimov, a former employee of the Sovietskiy ROVD (District Interior Division), at interrogation in the court justified the putting of Magomedov on the above registry by the fact that he was helping the widows of killed militants, visited the Salafi mosques located in General Omarov and Kotrov Streets, and "bears a beard, but shaves off his moustaches." The witness is sure that Magomedov was conducting propaganda among young people in the mosque.

When advocate Isaev asked the witness about the actions he had been conducting, Ramazanov, a representative of the respondent, said that this information was secret and asked the court to withdraw the question.

The defence of Magomedov has presented a document, issued by the FSB Department for Dagestan, indicating that the Department has no compromising materials on Magomedov. The document also states that the FSB did not take part in his detention.
