Natives of Caucasus detained in Moscow on suspicion of assaulting policemen
Last night, in the area of New Moscow, an attack on policemen was committed; two law enforcers were wounded; one of them later died. Eight suspected attackers were detained by "hot pursuit". At least five of them are natives of Northern Caucasus, said a law enforcement source.
According to investigators, a private security outfit of "Rosgvardiya" (Russian Guard) was shelled, while checking strangers' documents.
The attackers managed to seize two submachine guns and a pistol, the "Moscow" City News Agency reports.
The detainees were involved in robberies of trade facilities and warehouses, including with the use of weapons, the TASS reports, referring to its source.
A criminal case has been opened on fact the incident under the article of assaulting the life of law enforcer, says the website of the Investigating Department for Moscow of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
