NAC reports bomb found in place of killing leader of "Shamil" grouping

A ready-to-use improvised explosive device (IED) and firearms were found in the place of the shootout, in which Ibragim Amirov, known as the leader of the "Shamil" grouping of militants in Dagestan, was killed, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that tonight in the outskirt of the village of Teletl in the Shamil District of Dagestan, a shootout has broken out, during which the locals Ibragim Amirov and Gamzatapandi Magomedov were killed. The former was treated by law enforcers as the leader of Shamil militants, and the latter – as his subordinate.

Ibragim Amirov, born in 1989, a native of the village of Khebda, Shamil District, was on the federal wanted list. According to power agents, he was a relative of Aliaskhab Kebekov and was involved in the murder of Judge Ubaidula Magomedov from the Shamil District Court in August 2016.

The NAC has confirmed the information about the murder of Ibragim Amirov. According to the Committee, the grouping led by Amirov was involved not only in the killing of Ubaidula Magomedov, but also in the murders of two Teletl village heads: of Mukhtar Kurbanov in November 2015, and of Khalid Kebedov in December 2013.

Besides, the NAC continues, the grouping was involved in killings of law enforcers, an Imam of the mosque, and an artistic director of the house of culture. Also, the militants led by Amirov were extorting money from entrepreneurs and are held accountable for undermining a mobile telephone station in the Shamil District in May 2016.
