In "Nardaran case", use of force against defendants confirmed by medical examination

At the hearing in the "Nardaran case" held on November 21, the court announced the results of a medical examination, which confirmed the presence of bodily injuries of defendants several days after their detention. The defence believes the medical examination confirms the use of torture.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the trial of the "Nardaran case" began in Baku on August 3, 2016. On October 21, Talekh Bagirzade, one of the defendants and the leader of the "Muslim Unity" Movement, and 17 other defendants stated beatings at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).

At the court hearing on November 21, experts confirmed that they had discovered signs of bodily injuries on the body of Bagirzade and other defendants in the case. Besides, the experts also detected bullets in the bodies of some defendants. The experts have concluded that the bodily injuries could be got on the day of the defendants' detention, on November 26, 2015.

"The experts have admitted signs of violence, since it was impossible to deny them," advocate Yalchin Imanov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent after the court hearing.

However, according to the advocate, it is not time to indulge a vain hope, since the objectivity of the experts was not a surprise.

"Everything was staged, since investigators explained those bodily injuries by the fact that the defendants allegedly rendered physical resistance during their detention and thus the force was used against them. However, the explanation automatically loses its significance, since the investigators had failed to submit to the court the operational video of the special operation. In case of violent resistance to the police, it would be recorded by cameras," said advocate Imanov.
