"Dagestani" Natural Reserve wins WWF grant
A grant of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is to be spent to implement the project "Resort for Vultures" at the "Dagestani" Natural Reserve.
On December 5, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) announced winners of small grants to natural reserves and national parks.
About 8 million roubles, provided by partners and participants of the programme, will be distributed among the winners. The WWF project involved more than 200 Russian entrepreneurs of the Russian community "Business Youth", who allocated 1.3 million roubles, the "Arguments and Facts Dagestan" reports.
The project "Resort for Vultures" initiated by the "Dagestani" natural reserve is aimed to create a feeding station for rare species of birds of prey, including black vultures, vultures, and gyps, which will allow them to more easily experience unfavourable weather conditions.
Small Grants Competition for Reserves and National Parks is held since 1999. During this period of time, the WWF-Russia supported more than one hundred of projects, the news agency "ParkInfo" reports.
The "Dagestani" natural reserve was organized in 1987 at two territories, including "Kizlyar Bay" and "Sarykumskie Dunes".
