Volgograd Conservatory to stay under municipality's jurisdiction

The Volgograd Regional Administration has decided to preserve the status of the Volgograd Conservatory: the property of the educational establishment will remain municipal property, and the funding thereof will continue.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16, the Scientific Council of the Volgograd Conservatory named after P. A. Serebriakov circulated an open letter with a demand not to admit the transfer of the property to the Conservatory from the municipal one into the ownership of the Treasury of the Volgograd Region. The members of the Council believe that the transfer of property into the treasury and termination of funding will lead to liquidation of the establishment. The authorities had assured, on the contrary, that the Conservatory would raise its status.

"The Regional Culture Committee has supported us," said Victoria Davydova, the Rector of the Conservatory.

The information about the decision of the regional administration was confirmed by Konstantin Kalion, an MP of the Volgograd City Duma. According to his story, the Governor took personal control over the situation with the Conservatory.
