Today, in Astrakhan, local residents have come to a protest action in front of the building of the Astrakhan Regional Duma. The protestors demand resignation of the Government and the Governor of the Astrakhan Region.

By the beginning of the Duma meeting, about 70 activists gathered in front of the building located in Volodarsky Street. Deputies were met by a picketer with a poster urging them not to adopt the budget in the form submitted for consideration. Staff members of the Duma "forced the picketer inside the building" and thus provoked the indignation of the citizens who came to the Duma. The protesters began chanting: "Let him go!", and later, people started chanting: "Zhilkin should resign!", "Thieves!", "Government should resign!"

"Did he kill somebody? Why did they grab him in such a rude way and forced him into the building?" Lyubov Ivanova, a witness of the incident, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Over the past three weeks, Astrakhan hosted at once several protest actions. On November 24, inAstrakhan, activists held a rally prior to the start of the consideration of the "Social Code" by the Regional Duma. The protestors spoke against the adoption of the draft law proposed by the Governor. The protest action was attended by about 600 people. On November 13, one more similar rally was held in Astrakhan. On November 30, Mikhail Anisenko, a resident of Astrakhan, held a picket in front of the residence of the Governor of the Astrakhan Region.
