Dagestani Minister for Press challenges court's decision on her claim against "Chernovik"

Burliyat Tokbolatova, who demanded to collect one million roubles from the edition office of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft) as compensation for moral damage, filed a complaint against the court's decision to leave her claim without consideration. According to advocate Larisa Abdusamadova, who represents the interests of Burliyat Tokbolatova, the consideration of the complaint is scheduled for December 6.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 28, the Kirov District Court of Makhachkala pronounced the decision to leave without consideration the claim for moral damage filed by Burliyat Tokbolatova, Dagestani Minister for Press and Information, against the newspaper "Chernovik". The Court did not consider the claim, since the claimant had failed to come to the court hearing.

The Dagestani Minister treated as defamatory the information published in the newspaper issue of July 29, 2016, in the article "For Friendship...", dedicated to the press conference of the Dagestani branch of the "Rodina" (Homeland) Party held on July 22. In the article, "Chernovik" has quoted the phrases voiced by Ramazan Mamedov, the main speaker of the press conference: "In Derbent, Burliyat Tokbolatova, Dagestani Minister for Press and Information, invited a local journalist and demanded from him to withdraw his candidacy from the election. He showed fidelity to his principles and refused. Meanwhile, he resigned from the newspaper..." In her claim for compensation, Minister Tokbolatova stated "that did not take place and could not take place."

Advocate Larisa Abdusamadova, who represents the interests of Burliyat Tokbolatova, has reported that her client disagrees with the decision pronounced by the Kirov District Court of Makhachkala.

The advocate reports that the Dagestani Minister has already sent an appeal for cancellation of the above court's decision, which is to be considered on December 6.
