Musaev promises to name Makhachkala street after Fidel Castro
One of Makhachkala streets will be named in honour of the Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, who died on November 25, Musa Musaev, the Mayor of the city, has announced today. Dagestan and North Ossetia plan to hold sports tournaments in honour of Castro.
The 90-year-old Fidel Castro, who after the Cuban revolution was in power since 1959 to 2011, died in the evening on November 25; it was officially announced today.
The current Mayor of Makhachkala, Musa Musaev, was among those who expressed condolences in the context of Fidel Castro's death. He has stated that the revolutionary's name will be immortalized in Makhachkala: one of the streets will be named after Castro. Musaev also said that the authorities are defining the sports for organizing tournament in Castro's honour in the city, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
By his spirit and temperament, Fidel Castro was close to Daghestanis, Zapir Alkhasov, Deputy Mayor of Makhachkala, said in his turn, as quoted by the TASS.
