Court fines Herbert Gevorkyan for disobeying police

In Yerevan, the court has found Herbert Gevorkyan, a member of the art group "Counterstrike", guilty of disobedience to the lawful demand of the police and sentenced him to a fine of about 111 US dollars. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the activist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 25, law enforcers detained participants of an action in support of political prisoners, held near the residence of the Armenian President. The police reported about three detainees who were released on the same day. After his release, Herbert Gevorkyan stated that the policemen drawn up a protocol on administrative detention against him for failure to obey the lawful demands of the police in connection with the refusal to stop the action near the residence of President Serzh Sargsyan.

In the morning of November 23, the activist got the decision of the Yerevan administrative court stating that he had been brought to administrative responsibility.

In the evening of November 23, Herbert Gevorkyan informed the "Caucasian Knot" that the court decided to fine him 53,000 drams (about 111 US dollars). However, according to the activist, he and his advocate were not informed of the court hearing.

Herbert Gevorkyan has also added that he intends to file an appeal against the court's decision.
