First sitting of new Georgian Parliament is held at background of protests

Protesters have demanded from the MPs to amend the labour legislation and reform the education sector. President Giorgi Margvelashvili has called on the "Georgian Dream" to use its constitutional majority to fulfil the party's electoral promises.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 16 the Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) published the final outcomes of the parliamentary elections. The "Georgian Dream" has 115 MPs; the "United National Movement" (UNM) – 27; the "Alliance of Georgia Patriots" Party – six; and two seats belong to independent MPs.

The first session of the Parliament of the ninth convocation was held at the background of the protest action held under the slogan "Pursue real politics!" In Kutaisi, activists of the civil society, trade unionists and students came to the building of the legislature and demanded to amend the labour legislation and reform the education sector.

According to Gocha Alexandriya, a Georgian unionist, in October only, Georgia saw several mortal cases at work, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports quoting the "Imedi" TV Channel.

The protest action was also attended by activists of the "White Noise" movement, who stand for decriminalization of soft drugs in Georgia.
