In Karachay-Cherkessia, law enforcers seize weapons from six suspected militants

The number of six people detained in October in Karachay-Cherkessia on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, includes one woman.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 20, the FSB Department for the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic (KChR) reported on the detention of six residents if the KChR, Dagestan, and the Stavropol Territory on suspicion of involvement in the IS.

On October 7, 11, and 12, the Circassian City Court pronounced against the detainees the pre-trial restriction measure in the form of detention. This was reported by Soltan Bairamukov, the press secretary of the Supreme Court (SC) of the KChR.

From the detainees' hiding place and the house of their leader, law enforcers seized weapons, ammunition, explosives, and videos depicting them swearing allegiance to the IS, reports the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the KChR. The grouping was led and financed by militants from Syria.

According to the police, the main objectives of the grouping were to commit terror acts and attacks against law enforcers.
