Abkhazia announces contest of coin sketches with images of family clan emblems
The National Bank of Abkhazia has announced release in 2017 of memory coins, depicting tamgas - ancestral heirloom emblems. So far, they plan to issue a series of ten coins, depicting the tamgas of most numerous Abkhazian clans.
Coin sketches will be accepted until February 1; they should depict a tamga and the clan surname in the Abkhaz language.
The state statistical department has provided the National Bank with a list of ten most widespread surnames in Abkhazia. In 2017, they plan to release ten coins with the tamgas of Agrba, Adleiba, Kvitsinia, Tarba, Avidzba, Bartsits, Djindjolia, Djopua, Arshba and Argun, says the website of the National Bank of Abkhazia.
The "Sputnik-Abkhazia" reports, with reference to Liana Agrba, the specialist for external communications of the National Bank of Abkhazia, contracts will be concluded with the authors of approved sketches; and they will receive 50,000 roubles each. The coins will be minted of silver with gilding at "Gosznak" factories in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
Ms Argba does not exclude that the release of clan memorial coins will continue in 2018.
