Astrakhan solidarity action with "Russian March" supports Stenin

The picketers who held their action in the village of Krasnye Barrakady (Red Barricades), Astrakhan Region, told passers-by about the case of Igor Stenin, the leader of the nationalist movement "Russians of Astrakhan", convicted for incitement to extremism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the nationalist Igor Stenin was sentenced to two years of colony-settlement for reposting an extremist article about the war in Ukraine in the social network "VKontakte". His defence insisted that Stenin had made no repost.

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has treated the prosecution of Igor Stenin as politically motivated. According to rights defenders, the investigators, prosecutors and the court "exhibited an extreme bias and partiality." At the same time, they stressed that their attitude to the case does not mean their consent with the convict's views.

The participants of the today's solidarity action with the "Russian March", held in the above village, were holding a poster "Freedom to Igor Stenin!", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The picketers – Dmitri Kovalyov and Victor Filatov – were telling the interested passers-by about the fate of the leader of the "Russians of Astrakhan". "On behalf of the picketers, I wish Igor good health and a quick return home, where his colleagues are waiting for him," one of the picketers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
