In Moscow, AI's office sealed off
Today, staff members of the human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) have failed to get to their office in Moscow, since it appeared to be sealed off. According to Alexander Artemiev, a staff member of the AI, locks at the office are changed, and the electricity is cut off.
On his Facebook page, Ivan Kodratenko, a staff member of the AI, has reported the fact that the AI' office is sealed off. He has posted photos from the place of the incident.
"The office is sealed off, the locks are broken out (and new ones are inserted). There is a written notice stating that we are to apply to the Moscow City Property Department with a letter to take out our belongings," wrote Ivan Kodratenko.
"We have called the Moscow City Property Department; however, they are still not aware about the situation," noted Ivan Kodratenko.
Alexander Artemiev, another staff member of the AI, has also reported that the organization had not received any warnings from the authorities.
"We have not received any warnings or explanations. We contacted officials each year to discuss the rent rate. We always pay the rent, and recently, we paid it in October," said Alexander Artemiev.
