In Krasnodar, activist holds rally in memory of victims of political repressions

In the evening of October 30, activist Boris Volokh held a picket in front of the former NKVD building in the historic centre of the Kuban capital. He has called on to remember the people who died for their beliefs, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Every year, on October 30, Russia marks the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, set by the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) No. 1763/1-I dated October 18, 1991, "On establishment of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions".

"This is the traditional place to hold actions related to the day of political prisoners. In the early 1920s, this former NKVD building accommodated the Department of the State Political Administration (known as OGPU). The building is responsible for a lot of dead bodies and a lot of bloodshed. In Krasnodar, you can find no more sinister building, in which more Cossack blood was shed. This was told to us by old residents of Krasnodar, and the same was confirmed by the historical sources," Boris Volokh told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to him, for nearly two decades, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, he attends rallies in memory of the people who died for their beliefs. Boris Volokh has also announced his intention to hold the same rallies in future.
