Tenants of emergency house accuse South-Ossetian authorities of inaction

The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of South Ossetia holds an inquiry into the theft of money allocated for repairs of the apartment building No. 118 inHeroes Street in Tskhinvali. The repair epic lasts for eight years, the tenants of the luckless house told the "Caucasian Knot".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2015 the tenants of the above five-story house, damaged by the warfare in August 2008, demanded to move them out of the dilapidated building. They put forward a version that the money allocated for the construction of a new house for them had been long ago spent for other purposes.

Now, the GPO is examining the financial and economic activities of the "Ruslan" construction company, which in December 2009 was engaged in restoring the No. 118 inHeroes Street, destroyed in August 2008. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the GPO.

Meanwhile, many tenants of the 60-apartment dilapidated house have been still living in it for the past eight years. Some apartments are tightly locked, since they are unfit for living after the war, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

As of October this year, over 30 families are still living there.

Tenants have noted in their conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that during eight years they have "repeatedly visited all the instances demanding to demolish the unfit house and move them to some more housing."

"Various commissions keep visiting our yard; they discuss something, promising either the demolition, or repairs; but nothing has changed. We are tired of waiting," a tenant named Elvira told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
