Authorities expel seven Adygs from Kabardino-Balkaria

Today, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria satisfied a claim filed by the republican interior ministry's passport and visa department, lawyer Timur Tukhuzhev, who represents interests of repatriates whom the Kabardino-Balkarian authorities want to expel from the republic, told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. The Supreme Court released the passport and visa department from the duty to prolong the repatriates' residential permits.

Commenting on the situation, head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Human Rights Center Valery Khatazhukov said the Supreme Court let the Kabardino-Balkarian Interior Ministry push itself around. The ministry imitates a struggle against terrorism expelling the repatriates, he holds.

The seven Adygs, repatriates from the Middle East, were warned about their expulsion from Kabardino-Balkaria. The authorities refused to prolong their residential permits referring to the fact they had not submitted applications six months prior to the expiration of their permits. The repatriates returned to their historic homeland with the intention to settle here for good. Some of them married local girls and have small children.
