Arsen Pavlov, Chechen War veteran, assassinated in Donetsk
A participant of counterterrorist operations (CTOs) in Chechnya, field commander of the national militia unit of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (known as DNR), also known under the nickname "Motorola", was killed in Donetsk on October 16.
The authorities of the self-proclaimed DNR accuse certain Ukrainian saboteurs of the murder. The city of Donetsk has been put under the "Interception" plan.
Arsen Pavlov was killed in the elevator of his house, where a bomb was triggered. Several other people were wounded, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ukraine.
Pavlov had been decorated with the medal "For Liberation of the Crimea". He was on the sanction list of the European Union (EU) because of the involvement in "undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine and destabilization of the situation in the country," the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
Arseny Pavlov was born in 1983 in the then Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR) (now, the Komi Republic of the Russian Federation). He received his combat experience in Chechnya, where he took part in CTOs (two trips there within a period of six months). During the fights in the area of Slavyansk, the unit under Pavlov's command was part of the forces of the "people's militia", the "Novoros News" reports.
