Gukovo miners state stop of payments

According to organizers, 120 miners gathered today in the town of Gukovo, Rostov Region at the office of the "Kingcoal", a former coal company. Within a week, former employees received about 2 million roubles of salary debts; then, the payments stopped.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since August 22, miners of the "Kingcoal" were on a hunger strike in Gukovo, demanding repayment of the debts, amounting to 300 million roubles, and issuance of their rational coal. Miners were hunger-striking at home, but regularly went out to protest actions. On September 27, the hunger strike was suspended.

"As of the evening on October 10, a total of 2973 payments were made, amounting to 19.532 million roubles," Nikolai Nadkernichny, a member of the initiative group to coordinate miners' protest actions told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Pickets are held every weekday; the today's one was 120 persons strong. Payments were stopped," Mr Nadkernichny has stressed, adding that a meeting of the initiative group with the regional minister of fuel and energy and the city prosecutor was scheduled for October 14.
