Defender of Arthur Sunshev claims her client beaten by policemen

Tatiana Psomiadi, an advocate of Arthur Sunshev, a son of a judge of the Nalchik City Court, insists on institution of criminal proceedings against the policemen, who detained her client. The advocate claims that her client was beaten by the policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to investigators, Arthur Sunshev, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, rendered resistance to inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS), hit a policeman and broke his jaw. A criminal case was opened against Arthur Sunshev under Article 318 "Use of violence against a public official."

In her motion, the advocate has stated that the policeman started to insult Arthur Sunshev after his refusal to pass medical examination. "Being unable to ignore the insult, Arthur Sunshev raised his hand and struck the policeman in his face," states the advocate.

"Besides, the policemen inflicted bodily harm to Arthur Sunshev, when they were beating him in his head with their feet. However, till present, the problem of bringing them to responsibility for their actions has not been solved," states the motion filed by Tatiana Psomiadi.

In her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Tatiana Psomiadi has emphasized that after watching the video record of the detention, she "got reinforced in her opinion that Arthur Sunshev was beaten by a group of persons by prior conspiracy."

"The video record clearly shows that a person in civilian clothes kicks Arthur Sunshev when he is laid on the hood of the police patrol car. Meanwhile, none of the policemen tried to stop the man," said Tatiana Psomiadi.
