Power agents link militants killed in Suleiman-Stalsky District to "Southern" grouping

Possible accomplices of the three militants killed today in the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan are looked for in the vicinity of the village of Tsmur, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported today. According to law enforcers, the casualties were members of the "Southern" grouping of militants, said a law enforcement source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the Suleiman-Stalsky District on October 9 at 9:45 p.m. Moscow time. According to law enforcement sources, in a shootout, power agents killed three suspected militants; a soldier of Special Forces was wounded.

The decision to hold a CTO was made after in the course of operative-search activities, Russian FSB bodies received information about the presence of a group of persons involved in militant activities in the territory of the Suleiman-Stalsky District of Dagestan.

According to preliminary data, the killed militants were members of the "Southern" grouping of militants operating in the territory of Dagestan, and were involved in a number of grave terrorist crimes, said a local law enforcement source.
