Kuban farmers demand to investigate death of participant of "tractor march"

Officials and politicians have ignored the requests of farmer Nikolai Gorban to solve his problem. This was stated by Alexei Volchenko, the leader of the movement "Polite Farmers". Farmers have demanded to immediately investigate the circumstances of the death of Nikolai Gorban.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikolai Gorban, a farmer from the Timashyovsk District, committed suicide, and in his suicide note, he blamed an owner of a large agricultural company of his death.

The law enforcement bodies should institute a criminal case under Article "incitement to suicide" and punish the persons responsible for the death of Nikolai Gorban, believes Alexei Volchenko. According to him, the police saw the Nikolai Gorban's suicide note, but failed to react to it.

According to Alexei Volchenko, for several years, Nikolai Gorban struggled against a large agricultural company, and he "was in a severe psychological condition and had a multimillion-rouble debt."

Alexei Volchenko has stated that Nikolai Gorban bought the land shares from the owners and registered one hectare of arable land as his property. "However, after the owner of the agricultural company decided to lay hands on the above land plot, the decision of the shareholders' meeting was cancelled by the court. Thus, Nikolai Gorban lost the right of property," said Alexei Volchenko.

According to Alexander Tkachov, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, "no cases of raiders' seizures of land take place in Kuban, and the farmers' protest is of political nature and intensified on the eve of the elections."
