Teacher committee Beslan Tragedy continues its work

The teacher committee Beslan Tragedy keeps on working, Elena Ganiyeva-Kasumova, deputy director of School #1 and a member of the committee, told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. It was reported earlier that residents of Beslan made a decision to close the teacher committee. On October 21, indignant residents of Beslan gathered at the building of the town administration. Their indignation was caused by the fact that material aid did not reach victims. They raised claims against Minister of Education Alina Levitskaya and Labor Minister Larisa Tuganova. "But the ministers switched the people's attention to the work of the teacher committee," reported Ekho Moskvy Radio. "The functionaries asked who had given the teachers the right to open accounts and distribute the money. The situation deteriorated after it. Former hostages began to accuse the teacher committee of peculation and even their children's death. The problem of distributing the aid moved to the background as a result, and the decision was made to close the teacher committee."

"We met with parents later and explained them why it was necessary that our committee and website, first of all, should exist," Ms Ganiyeva-Kasumova said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent. In her words, the situation with parents, which was tense until recently, has begun to improve little by little.

Beslan residents who lost their children in the terror attack accuse School Director Lidiya Tsaliyeva of what happened. "Lida, no mercy to you!", "Lidiya, everyone, even children, will take revenge on you!" – people have left these addresses to the school director on school walls. They accuse Lidiya Tsaliyeva of leaving the gym together with rebels from time to time, allegedly for eating with them, and of hiring workers who brought explosives to the school. "Not everybody, of course," added Ms Ganiyeva-Kasumova. "There're people who understand she isn't to blame."
