In Kuban, "PARNAS" Party wins elections in Cossack village because of election commission's mistake

In Kuban, at a polling station in the Cossack village of Rodnikovskaya, after crossing out from ballots the name of a candidate who withdrew himself from the elections, marks were made in a box for voting. The election commission has recognized the ballots as valid, since it fails to ensure that the marks were made by members of the election commission, and not by voters.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the polling station No. 27-56 in the Kuban Cossack village of Rodnikovskaya, the "PARNAS" Party had been completely crossed out of the ballots instead of Alexander Safronov, a candidate for a single-seat district, who had earlier withdrew himself from the elections to the State Duma.

Those ballots were replaced by new one, reports Alexei Chernenko, the chairman of the election commission of Kuban.

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia, in Kuban, the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party, which gained 59.32%, won the elections to the State Duma on party lists. The second place went to the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) (13.77%), and the third place to the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) (12.64%).

According to Alexei Chernenko, in other ballots, marks were made in squares while crossing out the name of the candidate, and that was treated as a fact of voting. Those ballots were not replaced, since it was not clear who had made the marks.

"That case did not affect the general results of voting. I'm talking about dozens of ballots, and we are carrying out a check concerning the case," stated Alexei Chernenko as quoted by the "Interfax".
