Advocate reports on deterioration of health of man accused of plotting a terror act in Georgia

Vladimir Rukhadze, charged with plotting an explosion on a gas pipeline, has been on hunger strike for 18 days, and his health state has deteriorated. This was reported by advocate of the defendant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21, seven people were detained in Georgia on suspicion of plotting a terror act on the gas pipeline, through which gas is supplied from Russia to Armenia. One of the defendants in the case is a staff member of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

On August 23, after all the accused people were arrested, Vladimir Rukhadze declared an indefinite hunger strike. He pleads not guilty and treats the decision on the pre-trial restriction measure as biased, reports Nino Makharadze, the advocate of Vladimir Rukhadze.

According to the advocate, because of the deterioration of his health state, Vladimir Rukhadze is regularly subjected to blood transfusion, and he stays under constant supervision of physicians. However, Vladimir Rukhadze refuses to stop his hunger strike, the "InterpressNews" reports.

The defence is preparing a complaint to be filed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), reports Nino Makharadze as quoted by the "Sputnik Georgia".
