In Volgograd, 150 signatures collected under petition against liquidation of "Volya" Party

In the evening of August 29, in Volgograd, activist Sergey Volgin held a solo picket in defence of the "Volya" (Will) Party, which had been liquidated by the Supreme Court's decision. Volgograd activists began collecting signatures under a petition addressed to the authorities with a demand to cancel the above Supreme Court's decision, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

On August 9, the Russian Supreme Court granted the claim filed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on the liquidation of the All-Russian political "Volya" Party in connection with dissemination of extremist materials.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 18 and August 28, Sergey Volgin already held solo pickets in support of the "Volya" Party and its leader.

On August 29, Sergey Volgin held new solo picket in front of the building of the Regional Court and in Lenin Square in Volgograd.

According to the activist, on August 29, the Leninsky District Court of Ulyanovsk considered the case on recognition of leaflet "Appeal to soldiers and officers" as extremist material, on the basis of which it had been earlier decided to liquidate the "Volya" Party.

"That is the leaflet, in which several independent examinations found no extremism, but only criticism of the authorities. Is criticism forbidden by law? It turns out that I am as a citizen illegally deprived of every opportunity to express my opinion peacefully and to influence the legislative activities," the activist has stated.

Meanwhile, according to Sergey Volgin, in Volgograd and the Volgograd Region, activists began collecting signatures under a petition to recognize the elections to be held on September 18 as null and void. The petition also contains the demand to "abolish the Russian Supreme Court's decision on liquidation of the All-Russian political "Volya" Party.

On August 29, in Volgograd, according to Sergey Volgin, 150 signatures were collected under the petition.
