Nagorno-Karabakh authorities announce resumption of refugee support programme

31 statements for financial assistance have been sent to the government of Nagorno-Karabakh by refugees from Azerbaijan. According to the authorities of the republic, the refugee support programme will be resumed in September.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 5, after a four-day escalation of the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone, a truce was announced. However, after that the parties still regularly accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.

The refugee support programme was to be realized this April; however, it was suspended because of the hostilities. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Artak Beglaryan, the press secretary for the Prime Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to Artak Beglaryan, the decision to resume the refugee support state programme was made by the government adopted in early August.

"Financial assistance will be paid to refugees every month, and it will not exceed 50,000 drams (472 drams equal 1 US dollar). A working group created under the government will begin to consider the documents in September," said Artak Beglaryan, the press secretary of the chairman of the Nagorno-Karabakh government.

Artak Beglaryan has also emphasized that the government plans to begin the discussion of the project to provide housing for "the refugees much in need of improvement of housing conditions."
