Athletes and coaches claim lack of gyms in republics of Northern Caucasus

In North Ossetia, people are fond of freestyle wrestling; however, the number of athletic halls is not enough. This opinion was voiced by Olympic champions Khasan Baroev and Arthur Taimazov. Ingushetia has not enough gyms for judo, and the constructed complex in weightlifting was "pulled apart" by businesses, state the coaches working in the republic. Meanwhile, according to Nurmagomed Astarkhanov, a sports commentator of the newspaper "Makhachkala Izvestia", there is a surplus of wrestling schools in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at Olympic Games, athletes from southern Russia and the countries of South Caucasus won 48 medals. In particular, the gold medal was won by freestyle wrestler Abdul Sadulaev, a native of Dagestan.

According to Khasan Baroev, Minister of Physical Education of North Ossetia, the Olympic champion of 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the silver medallist of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, in recent five or six years, wrestling as a sport is sufficiently financed in North Ossetia. "All the activities are carried out at the expense of budgetary funds," Khasan Baroev has said.

However, according to the Minister, the number of gyms will always be not enough, since a lot of young people are engaged in wrestling in North Ossetia.

After judoka Khasan Khalmurzaev won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Ingush sports officials have reported the lack of gyms in the republic.

It should be noted that after the Khasan Khalmurzaev's victory, Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov has announced the construction of a judo hall.
