Political analysts analyse idea of Ingush authorities to encourage village with best turnout

The idea of the authorities of Ingushetia to award the dwelling settlement, which will show the highest voter turnout at the forthcoming elections, with a new social facility, is able to stimulate voters’ activeness – this is the opinion of three out of five experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" experts. Others believe that such methods "are diluting democracy."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the voting within the elections to the Russian State Duma is scheduled for the united voting day – September 18.

"It is necessary to stimulate voters’ activeness, but, I think, in some other way. Voting for a particular MP candidate – who will make voters’ life better – should be motivated," said Akhmet Yarlykapov, a senior researcher at the Centre for Ethno-Political Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In his turn, Yakub Patiev, a political analyst and publicist, recalled that "back in Soviet times voters were encouraged with material gifts."

"The initiative of the authorities of Ingushetia should be assessed not as a political, but sooner as a social one," said Maxim Shevchenko, a journalist and a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia.
