Shagen Arutyunyan summoned to police
Shagen Arutyunyan, a 17-year-old son of Shant Arutyunyan, the sentenced leader of the "Tsegakron" Party, has been summoned to visit today, on August 18, the division of alternative punishment execution of the penitentiary department of the Armenian Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, Shagen Arutyunyan declared a hunger strike in Freedom Square in Yerevan. He demands to release political prisoners.
Shagen Arutyunyan has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was summoned to the police after he had begun his hunger strike. The protestor is to come to the police at 10:00 a.m. local time.
However, according to Shagen Arutyunyan, he is not going to comply with summoning to the police, since at that time he is to have a press conference in Freedom Square.
The oppositionist believes that the authorities use such a way to subject him to pressure and to stop his protest action.
