After truckers' complaints, Kuban authorities lift ban on daily movement of farmers' trucks

Agents of agricultural and transportation companies have reported losses from the ban on daily movement of trucks in the Krasnodar Territory. The performance of the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port was not affected by the ban. On August 16, the Kuban authorities lifted the ban against farmers in connection with the termination of harvesting.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 20, the authorities of the Krasnodar Territory banned until late August the movement of heavy trucks on the roads to the Black and Azov Seas in daytime and on weekends because of many kilometres of traffic jams in the holiday season.

After the introduction of the ban, the delivery of goods to the Kuban cities, including Sochi, Gelendzhik, and Anapa, has increased several times.

According to Pyotr Svetlichny, the chairman of the Kuban association of grain-processing and grain-collecting enterprises, because of the ban on the movement of heavy trucks during the daytime, it is not possible to carry out deliveries under international contracts. That fact may result in breaking of the contracts.

An agent of a company engaged in transportation of food products has reported that because of the ban on the daily movement of heavy truck, the cost of delivery has grown in average by 20-30%. That resulted in the growth of food prices.

He has also added that earlier, the transportation of food products by road has become unprofitable because of the introduction of the "Platon" system on federal highways, and the ban on the movement of trucks on the roads to the Black Sea has bankrupted small carriers.
