Kuashev's family refuses to treat his death as solved

The investigators, who held the inquiry into the death of Timur Kuashev, failed to establish who had called him before the murder, said the father of the journalist. The prosecutor's office returned the materials of the case to investigators; and the family intends to appeal against the investigator's decision.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kuashev's body was found on August 1, 2014, in a suburb of Nalchik. A trace of some injection was found on his body, but investigators claim that the 26-year-old journalist was not poisoned, but died of acute coronary insufficiency.

Earlier, rights defenders criticized the version of nonviolent Kuashev's death, saying that the investigation was carried out formally.

Investigators failed to properly check all the circumstances of Timur's death, said his father Khambi Kuashev. Besides, they failed to examine the links of the telephone number, from which Kuashev received a call on the day of his death.

Maxim Shevchenko, the editor-in-chief of the "Caucasian Policy", for whom Kuashev had worked for the last years of his life, has also called the investigation into his death inefficient. He is sure that Kuashev was killed because of his active interest in the case of militants' attack on Nalchik.
