Members of "Sasna Tsrer" Coordinating Council arrested for two months

The court has pronounced the decision to arrest for two months Andrias Gukasyan, a member of the Board of the civil movement "Get up, Armenia!" and a member of the Front of National Salvation "New Armenia". Armen Martirosyan and Ovsep Khurshudyan, the deputy chairman and the press secretary of the "Heritage" Party, respectively, were arrested for the same period.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 29, law enforcers dispersed a march in support of the rebels, who seized the police regiment building in Yerevan. One group of the protesters was led by Andrias Gukasyan, and another by Armen Martirosyan, the deputy chairman of the "Heritage" Party. At night of July 30, the oppositionists were detained on suspicion of organizing mass riots. On August 1, it became known that the charge was filed against Andrias Gukasyan. He went on hunger strike in protest.

The decision to arrest Andrias Gukasyan was pronounced by the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeitun administrative districts, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

According to advocate Yervand Varosyan, the decision was made by the court groundlessly. On his page on Facebook, the advocate has claimed the intention to challenge the decision at the Court of Appeal.

On social networks, activists have reported that the court has pronounced the decision to arrest for two months at least two other members of the Coordination Council of the "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), including Armen Martirosyan and Ovsep Khurshudyan, the deputy chairman and the press secretary of the "Heritage" Party, respectively.
