23 rebels killed in clash

A clash between officers of republican security agencies and a rebel group has been going on in Chechnya since yesterday, September 27.

The large rebel group was discovered in the Nozhay-Yurt district of the republic in the afternoon yesterday. The rebels lost 23 people in dead during the combat, which lasted for many hours, and hided in a forest not far from the Meskety village.

"11 people were wounded on our side," a Chechen law enforcer said. According to him, extra police detachments and officers of security agencies are moving to the area of the clash.
