Trial of Imam Magomednabi Magomedov's case scheduled for August 5

The Court has extended by other six months the period of detention of Magomednabi Magomedov, the Imam of a mosque in Khasavyurt, charged with inciting terrorism. His case is to be considered on August 5. This was reported by Israfil Gadadov, an advocate of the Imam.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 8, Magomednabi Magomedov, the Imam of the "Eastern" mosque of Khasavyurt, was detained after he had demanded to release the detained mosque visitors.

After the detention, the advocate of Magomednabi Magomedov reported on signs of beating on his client's body. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has recognized the Imam a political prisoner.

On July 27, the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, where the materials of the criminal case were directed by the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office, pronounced the decision to extend the Imam's arrest. This was reported by advocate Israfil Gadadov.

About a week after the Magomednabi Magomedov's detention, new imam Khasan was appointed at the mosque, reports one of the mosque visitor.

"In fact, no election of a new Imam took place. He was appointed by the proposal of the family, which members were the main initiators of the construction of the mosque," the believers stated.
