Karo Egnukyan accused of helping to capture building

The investigating authorities have charged Karo Egnukyan, a member of the "Constituent Parliament", who was suspected of having connections with the rebels, who seized the building of the patrol-and-security service of the police regiment in Yerevan.

On July 17, supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the patrol-and-security service regiment of the police in Yerevan. During the seizure of the building, one policeman was killed, and other six persons were injured.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 19, law enforcers conducted searches in the apartment and the garage belonging to Karo Egnukyan, a member of the "Constituent Parliament". The activist himself was taken into custody.

Furthermore, on July 19, the law enforcement authorities carried out a search in the house belonging to the parents of Ruzanna Egnukyan, the activist's wife. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by advocate Tigran Airapetyan.

According to the advocate, Karo Egnukyan is charged under Articles 218 and 219 of the Criminal Code. He is accused of providing assistance in the seizure of buildings, vehicles, or means of communication or connection.

The advocate has noted that the above articles stipulate the punishment of 8-15 years of imprisonment.
