Journalist Pavel Sheremet killed in car explosion in Kiev

Today, in the centre of Kiev, journalist Pavel Sheremet has been killed in a car bombing. He was a well-known journalist, who worked in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. He is the author of the documentary film "The Chechen Diary" and the book "Saakashvili/Georgia. Dead Dreams". According to the preliminary version of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the car was blown up by an explosive device.

The car belonged to Alyona Pritula, the head of the "Ukrainian Truth", but she was not inside the car. After the inspection of the place, Khatiya Dekanoidze, the chief of the National Police of Ukraine, has confirmed that Pavel Sheremet was inside the car, the "112.ua" reports.

"According to the preliminary version, it was an explosive device," the edition quotes Artyom Shevchenko, the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), as reporting.

According to the edition, "the car was almost completely destroyed." The police preliminary classify the incident as intentional murder.
