Defence of leader of "Union of Don Women" intends to challenge resolution on initiation of criminal proceedings

During a search conducted at the office of the "Union of Don Women", law enforcers seized documents. The resolution to open a criminal case against Valentina Cherevatenko, the chair of the "Union of Don Women", will be challenged after receipt of the document at hand. This was reported by the advocate of Valentina Cherevatenko.

During the search conducted on June 24, the law enforcers seized "documents related to the alleged foreign financing of the organization, as well as financial reports." This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by advocate Ildar Shafiev.

He has noted that the defence was aware of the preliminary inspection; however, the search came as a surprise. The advocate intends to appeal against the resolution on initiation of criminal proceedings.

"The 'guilt' of Valentina Cherevatenko is only in the fact that she went to court and attempted to challenge the inclusion of her organization in the register of non-commercial organizations performing functions of a foreign agent, that is, she took the privilege of her constitutional right," the advocate notes.
